The Cannes International Film Festival compresses the Riviera's most concentrated event calendar into twelve days each May. The Palais des Festivals, La Croisette, the Carlton and Majestic terraces, the old port yacht berths, the Villa Rose private parties — all within a few hundred metres of each other, yet completely inaccessible by ordinary means during peak hours. FFGR Monaco operates Cannes Film Festival transport from its permanent Riviera ground network, with drivers who know every access lane, every vehicle staging point, and every VIP protocol of the event.
The Cannes Access Problem
La Croisette during the Festival is one of the most vehicle-controlled streets in France. Drop-off points at the Palais are managed by Festival accreditation — a vehicle without a Festival badge cannot access the red carpet lane regardless of the vehicle's standard. FFGR Monaco holds Festival vehicle accreditation annually, which is why our drivers can access the designated delivery and collection points that standard chauffeur services cannot reach.
The Cannes old port presents a parallel access challenge for clients with yacht berths. Port Canto and the Vieux Port have separate vehicle access protocols; FFGR drivers are briefed on both and coordinate with port security to ensure arrival timing matches the client's gangway schedule.
Monaco–Cannes–Monaco Transfers
The Monaco–Cannes ground transfer takes 50–70 minutes on the A8 under normal conditions. During Festival evenings — when the Palais programme ends and several hundred vehicles attempt the coastal return simultaneously — the journey can extend to 90–120 minutes without advance route planning. FFGR Monaco uses a departure timing model calibrated to the Festival's published programme: we know when the Palace screenings end and we position vehicles accordingly.
For clients attending both Monaco events and Cannes screenings, we operate a staged service: a dedicated vehicle and driver assigned exclusively for the duration of the Festival, available from early morning for press calls through to late-night party transfers. A single FFGR coordinator manages the full schedule, updating timings against the Festival programme as it evolves.
Private Parties and Villa Events
The Festival's most exclusive events do not appear on the official programme. Private screenings in hillside villas above Cannes, invitation-only parties at Cap d'Antibes estates, yacht dinners at Golfe Juan — these require transport coordination that goes beyond a fixed schedule. FFGR Monaco operates an on-call vehicle and driver pair for clients whose Festival programme is built on last-minute invitations, subject to vehicle availability during peak demand periods.
Security and discretion at private events is managed as standard: no vehicle identification, no manifest communication, and drivers who do not discuss client movements under any circumstances. This applies equally to the transport of guests whose presence at an event is itself confidential.
